DTN COMMENTS: The country is quiet this morning following moderate to active
trade in the North yesterday with dressed deals at mostly $204 to $205, $3
to $4 lower than last week's weighted average basis Nebraska. Southern trade
took place on Wednesday at $125 to $127, mostly $126 to $127, steady to $1
higher than the prior week's weighted averages. Although it is possible that
we may see a little cleanup trade in the North today, it is looking like
business in the South is essentially done for the week. Asking prices for
cattle still on showlists are around $128 to $129 on a live basis, and $206
to $207 dressed. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower, with light to
moderate box movement.
