Job Title: Car Center Technician

Reports to: Car Center Manager

Status: Full-time, Non-exempt

Pay Range: $14.42-$15.50/hour

Timeframe: Position will be opened until filled, estimated 3-6 weeks

 

 

Summary:

The Car Center Technician reports to the Car Center Manager and is responsible for performing maintenance work on vehicles to keep them road worthy. This role will require you to have excellent technical skills and familiarity with repair and maintenance of motor vehicles. Success in this role will require a positive attitude, great work ethic, organizational skills, and people skills!

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic auto care and maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid level check, and tire rotation
  • Work with manufacturers to order inventory and special orders for customers
  • Interact with customers to obtain information about the problems they’re experiencing with their vehicles
  • Maintain a clean working environment on the automotive service floor by putting materials and parts away as work is completed and ensure the customer’s car is kept neat and orderly throughout the scope of work
  • Follow all safety requirements and local and federal standards when working or disposing of hazardous or toxic materials
  • Adhere to best practices when working in the automotive service environment by reporting any accidents or incidents to management as soon as possible
  • Occasional money handling and reconciling the cash drawer at the end of the shift
  • Issuing receipts, refunds, credits or change as needed
  • Successfully help customers who have requested service calls outside of the shop
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-3 months related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid certification (e.g ASE) a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
