Job Title: Fertilizer Operations Manager

Department: Fertilizer

Reports to: Agronomy Director

Status: Full-time, Exempt + opportunity for commissions

Range: $65,000 – $80,000 annually

Timeframe: Open until filled

 

Summary:

The Fertilizer Operations Managers reports to the Agronomy Director and is responsible for managing and coordinating day-to-day agronomy operations, including fertilizer, crop protection, blending, and application logistics. The role will focus on developing strong customer relationships and maintaining strong relationships with team members.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and efficiently operate liquid and dry fertilizer plants and chemical containment buildings
  • Collaborate with agronomy team to manage inventory, price and quantity needs, and delivery timing
  • Learn and understand agronomy operations, work orders, logistics, dispatching and other agronomy-related functions
  • Coordinates with sales agronomists and applicators on the spreading, spraying, and delivery of bulk fertilizer to align operational activities with customer needs and business objectives
  • Understand the capabilities and limitations of equipment
  • Implement and maintain operational best practices to drive efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for unloading train cars
  • Working independently while meeting sales and service goals
  • Traveling within the local territory to visit farms and customers
  • Ability to operate all equipment and vehicles according to MVC policy and procedure along with all local, state, and federal laws
  • Ensure personnel and physical assets meet company safety, environmental, health regulatory, maintenance, quality and customer standards throughout the department

Education and/or Experience:

  • Background in Agronomy, Ag Business, Crop Science, or related field preferred

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CDL License, Class A with hazmat endorsement is desirable

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
